Geography

Malawi the country which doesn't have an outlet to the sea, the area approximately about Pennsylvania. It is located in southeast Africa and it is surrounded with Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania. Lake Malawi occupies the most part of eastern frontier of the country.

History

The people speaking language to a bow approximately in 1-4 centuries B.C. were the very first settlers. The slave trade took place in the 18th and 19th centuries and brought Islam in area. At the same time missionaries entered Christianity. Some kingdoms appeared during the precolonial period: Marav in 1480, Ngonde in 1600 and Chikulamayembe in the 18th century.

David Livingston in 1850 was the first European who investigated this territory. In 1884 the British South African Cecil Rhodes Company had an opportunity to operate and develop the country. The company entered the conflict to the Arab slaves in 1887-1889. Great Britain took that now call the Nyasaland territory in 1891 and made it the protectorate in 1892.

In 1951 Great Britain united Nyasaland with colonies of Northern and Southern Rhodesia to create federation.
